Most of the glass craftsmen who work in Murano, a tiny, canal-laced island near Venice, come from families who have worked the "art of fire" for five or six generations. Designer Allison Overbeke combines this traditional Italian artistry with New York fashion, adding a simple, matching leather cord to a glass heart.
