A single 9V DC block battery powers the unit, and the sounder pushes over 85dB at 10 feet (3m) to reach people across the room. Indicators for low battery, a missing battery, and normal LED operation keep the device honest, while the self-test button lets anyone check the circuit. The molded housing installs easily on a ceiling plate.
